Support the NCMC Rally: Call to Action

WHAT: Support the NCMC Rally

WHEN: Monday, March 13th, at 8:30 am at Freedom Plaza, directly across the street from the District building. We are asking everyone who can, to please TAKE A DAY OF LEAVE!

WHO: The Mayor, Councilmember Gray, Leaders from Howard University, Faith Community Leaders and others are slated to address the crowd.

WHY: We must do all that we can to turn out big numbers for the rally, pack the Council Chambers for the 10 am Hearing on NCMC Funding options, and come prepared to spend the rest of the day in the Council Hallways and Offices. We must show Councilmembers that we are serious!

SPECIFIC ACTION STEPS:

  1. We are asking each Minister to bring as many people as possible, minimum 50. We are asking churches to make their vans and buses available to transport participants.
  2. We are asking Ministers to please sign up to testify at the 10 am Hearing before the Committee of the Whole. The Council plans to address the Mayor's request to use Tobacco Settlement Funds to finance the District's portion of the costs for the National Capital Medical Center.
  3. On Monday, March 13, we want to pack the Council Chambers with NCMC supporters.
  4. We are asking supporters to come prepared to spend the day at the Council Chambers to encourage Councilmembers to push and vote for the New Hospital.
  5. During the week of March 6 - 10 we are asking supporters to CALL and EMAIL ALL City Councilmembers in order to encourage their push and vote for anything related to getting this hospital initiative passed. The legislation package has been spread to 4 different Committees.
